Season 5 Episode 110
In this episode, I tell the story of my disease and how I have grown from the experience. If you or a loved one have experienced chronic illness, maybe you can relate to my story! I hope that this helps you feel a little less alone.
Receiving a diagnosis can be extremely scary and nerve-wracking. When I learned about my disease, my life was turned upset down. I had so many fears, and I was worried that my future was bleak.
For a while, I treated myself with so much negativity. My anxiety got the best of me, and I felt an intense feeling of hopelessness. I wasn’t taking care of myself and I certainly wasn’t lifting myself up.
After a while, I knew that I needed to make a change. When I graduated college, I had a lot of choices to make. Where was I going to move? Where was I going to work? Could I have a normal life with this disease?
I decided to move out to California and pursue a career in the tech industry, and I have never looked back! I found some amazing doctors out here, and my health is the best it has been since my diagnosis.
The main thing I have learned through this journey: Give yourself grace!
Treat yourself with respect and empowerment. You know that you are strong, and that you deserve self-love.
