3 Supplements That I Love!

Striving to feel better every day

For the past few years, my struggles with Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) and Granulomatous and Lymphocytic Interstitial Lung Diseases (GLILD) have caused me to look deeper into my daily vitamins and supplements and see if I can better my overall health.

I have tried many different things, and I try to do a lot of research online and talk to friends who have tried out supplements. It has been really helpful to get insight from others.

When I stick to a routine of taking my supplements every day, I notice that I feel better overall! I get a sense of pride from knowing that I’m putting in effort to improve my health.

Of course, I am not a medical professional, so consult your doctor if you have any questions about whether these are right for you. Each person is different!

These are some supplements that I have loved. If you’re looking to switch up your health routine, maybe try these out!

1. Zinc

When I heard that zinc was known for supporting immune system function, I thought that it was perfect for me!

After doing some research, I found that Zinc is a vital mineral for our bodies, and it is often found in the foods we eat. However, depending on our meals, we don’t always get enough.

Here are the main benefits of zinc:

  • Supports a healthy immune system
  • Helps heal your gut
  • Is a nutrient for your skin

I really enjoy having zinc on hand and I try to take it every day! If you want to boost your immune health, this is a great addition.

2. L-Glutamine

On TikTok, I was seeing a lot of videos about improving gut health, which is something that I hadn’t thought about much before. CVID doesn’t cause me any gastrointestinal problems usually, but I wanted to make sure that I was taking care of my entire body. Furthermore, this supplement can actually benefit the immune system as well.

L-Glutamine is found in many foods including eggs, milk, tofu, turkey, rice, and corn.

Here are some benefits of L-Glutamine:

  • Help treats leaky gut and ulcers
  • May improve IBS symptoms
  • Helps muscle growth
  • Supports metabolic health
  • Improves GI health
  • Supports heart health

3. Vitamin D3

Another supplement that I really love is Vitamin D3, especially because it supports immune health. There are many benefits of this

Here are some benefits of this supplment:

  • Fights inflammation
  • Supports a healthy nervous system
  • Supports proper lung function
  • Improves your mood
  • Strengthens your immune system
  • Helps encourage hair growth
  • It can improve brain function

Taking steps towards wellness

Sometimes it can seem like a chore to try to figure out what my body needs. There is so much information out there, and it can feel really complicated.

If you’re new to trying out supplements, try doing a little bit of research and start with purchasing one or two. Take them for about two weeks, and assess how you feel. Many times, the difference isn’t life changing, but you can sense an improvement in your overall health and wellness. Small wins are still amazing!

self-care

After being in a rut for a while, I found that I was extremely lacking in self-care. I wasn’t putting in enough time to consider my body’s needs. I still struggle with it from time to time, which I think is normal. We are human, and are not always going to be perfect.

Anything you can do to improve your wellness is a start. Thank yourself and your body for helping you through this life!

Very informative post. I believe It’s my first time learning about Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) and Granulomatous and Lymphocytic Interstitial Lung Diseases (GLILD). I agree that zinc is necessary for pathways that help with immune function. I take zinc and Vitamin D3 as well.
