Practicing Self-Care: 3 hot teas that help me feel better
Table of Contents
Living with Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID), I often have days where I don’t feel like I’m operating at 100% capacity. When combined with mental health struggles, I can easily get down on myself and feel burnt out by life.
After living with CVID for some time now, I have tried out so many different methods to feel better – some have worked, and some haven’t.
What I have grown to love is drinking hot tea. It is simple, affordable, and can be full of good ingredients for your body. There are so many different kinds, and I am on a journey to try them out. I love learning more about the health benefits of different types of tea. When I take a moment to sit with my warm cup of tea, I immediately feel more relaxed.
Whenever I drink hot tea, I like to add some honey and lemon. There are some health benefits to honey in tea, and I love the flavor that it brings (since I don’t add any sugar). Some health benefits of honey include anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and can help with sore throat and/or cough. Lemon is also a great addition. It can help to detoxify the body, boost digestive function, aid in skin wellness, and regulate blood sugar.
Here are three types of tea that I really love, and I’ve added some links for you to check them out. This is a great idea if you’ve been feeling in a funk and want to improve your wellness!
Everyday Detox Dandelion Tea
I came across this tea from Traditional Medicinals, and I thought I would try it out because it supports liver and kidney function. I ended up liking the taste, and I have started drinking it a couple times a week. On the box, it does suggest drinking daily for about 2 weeks and then taking a week off, so I’m going to try that next.
Here are some benefits of Dandelion Tea:
- Antioxidants
- Lowers cholesterol
- High in vitamins
- Helps urinary tract infections
- Improves immune system
- Promotes gut health
Moroccan Mint Tea
The next tea that I love is Moroccan Mint Tea. I am a big mint lover, so I knew I had to try this. I really enjoy the taste, and I like Numi’s tea.
Health benefits of Moroccan Mint Tea:
- May soothe stress
- Improves digestion
- Helps sleep (it’s caffeine free)
- Soothes the respiratory tract
Chamomile Tea
I have loved Chamomile Tea for quite some time now, especially when I am feeling under the weather. It definitely helps me relax and get some better sleep.
Here are some benefits of Chamomile Tea:
- Good for sleep
- Can help anxiety
- Helps immune system
- Helps with digestion
Try these out and see what you think!
There are so many different kinds of tea out there, and I am excited to continue trying more. Tea is such a simple way to take a moment to yourself, relax, and enjoy life. You can drink it at any time in the day!
When I was drinking my dandelion tea, I saw this cute quite on the end of the tea bag:
“Beauty is not caused. It is.” – Emily Dickinson
I thought that was really cute! I love finding beauty in the small moments, like when I am making my tea and spending time with myself. When dealing with a chronic illness, it’s easy to be angry at your body, but I think that these moments are a great time to reflect and thank your body for supporting you!
Happy tea drinking, and make sure to take some time for self-care!
