Infrared Body Wrap and Lymphatic Cleanse: 2 natural treatments that help improve holistic health

After living with a chronic illness for over four years, I have tried many different natural methods of self-care to aid my overall health. Some have been better than others! I like trying out methods because it allows me to feel like I have at least some control over my health. I can’t make CVID go away, but I can do some small things to help me feel better physically and mentally.

I have browsed around on ClassPass and tried a lot of different things. I love ClassPass because you can use credits to try out different places without a membership. If you are interested in giving it a shot – go ahead and click this referral link to get credits.

I want to give a disclaimer that the methods I am writing about may not be suitable for every person. If you have chronic health issues, you may want to speak to your doctor before you try them out. You can also ask the owners of the establishment you choose to explain more details about the processes.

Infrared Body Wrap

I have discussed infrared saunas and body wraps briefly in a previous post, and I really love them! I have done both the sauna, in which you sit in an actual sauna, and the body wrap, where you are laying down with a wrap around your entire body (except for your head).

So – what the heck is an infrared body wrap?

An infrared body wrap is a spa or wellness treatment that uses infrared heat to promote various health and beauty benefits. The key component of this treatment is the use of infrared radiation, which is a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves. Infrared radiation is often divided into three categories: near-infrared, mid-infrared, and far-infrared, with far-infrared being the type commonly used in these body wraps.

Infrared sessions have benefits such as enhanced skin quality, improved immune system, alleviation of discomfort, anti-aging effects, detoxification, rejuvenation at the cellular level, and enhanced blood circulation.

I go to Hot Haven in San Diego for my infrared wrap, and I sit in there for 55 minutes. I love their set up because they prop you up with a TV that has all the best streaming platforms. So you can watch your favorite show while you sit!

I will warn everyone. You will sweat – a lot. I am not fond of sweating, so it kind of freaked me out at first. However, it is only uncomfortable for the last 15 minutes or so. I know that it’s good for my body, so I am willing to sit through it.

I always try to drink water before, during, and after infrared sessions.

Lymphatic Cleanse

After going to Hot Haven via ClassPass for the infrared body wrap, I saw that they offered a lymphatic cleanse treatment, which piqued my interest.

According to the Hot Haven website, here are some of the benefits of this treatment: the cleansing of the lymphatic system, improved circulation, removal of excess fluids from the body, improved immune system, assistance in weight loss, and reduced appearance of cellulite.

When you receive the treatment, you are put into a machine that is similar to the infrared wrap that squeezes different parts of your body throughout 55 minutes. It rotates around the body, so it is not happening simultaneously in each part. It kind of feels like a massage! There are different levels of pressure to choose from as well.

Sometimes, people pair these two treatments together, but I haven’t tried that yet!

Invest in your well-being

When I tried these things out, I definitely was getting out of my comfort zone. But, I am so glad I did it! It feels good to take some time for myself and invest in my health. I feel really good after doing these treatments, and I am always excited to go back.

Taking care of your physical health can be a very healing activity, and it can help your mental health as well. Don’t forget to take time for you!
